Good question. Your knowledge base is encrypted with AES-256 on disk. That protects your data if someone steals the disk, breaks into the server, or accesses a backup — without the key, the files are unreadable. But AskMunin needs the key to read the knowledge base and answer questions, and it lives on the same server. That means encryption alone doesn't protect against a compromised server process or an operator who decides to read the data. That's why encryption is just one of three layers:
The server runs with a read-only filesystem, no inbound ports, no root access during operation, and each customer is isolated in their own container with no network access to other customers.
The access log records every time the knowledge base is read, written, exported, or modified — with timestamp and event type. You can view the log yourself with !kb audit. Any access from AskMunin's side will show up here.
The contract obligates us not to read the content of your knowledge base. Breach gives you the right to terminate immediately.
In short: encryption stops outsiders, the log makes us traceable, and the contract makes us accountable.
AskMunin logs events, never content. Every time someone adds, edits, deletes, exports, or queries the knowledge base, it's logged with a timestamp and event type. You can view the log yourself with !kb audit (shows the last 30 days by default, or type e.g. !kb audit 90 for 90 days). What's never logged is the content of messages, questions, answers, or the knowledge base itself — nor API keys or other secrets.
Messages are sent to the Anthropic Claude API to generate responses, and to Groq Whisper for voice transcription. We never log message content — only anonymised statistical events (number of questions, error types, etc.).
Garbage in, garbage out. SharePoint is full of outdated procedures and files nobody remembers creating. AskMunin learns from what you actively choose to share — that's why the answers are good. Integrations with external services are on the roadmap, but we recommend starting with what the team actually uses regardless.
Yes. All plans include 14 days free. No payment is taken before the trial period is over, and you can cancel before then at no cost.
AskMunin sends a weekly backup as a file directly to admin users in Slack. The file is decrypted, so you can open and read it straight away — save it wherever you like. You can also take a manual export at any time with !kb export. The data is yours, and you always have a local copy.
You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Vipps app. Your data is not deleted by us. Export the knowledge base with !kb export if you want to take it with you — or use the weekly backup you've already saved.
Yes, until someone updates the knowledge base. It's exactly like with a new colleague — if you don't tell Lars the process changed, he'll keep doing it the old way. AskMunin is no different, but easier to update: send a document, type !kb add in Slack, or say it out loud and press 🧠. 30 seconds. Many teams find that AskMunin pushes them to document changes they'd never have written down otherwise.
Type !kb list in Slack to see all stored topics. You can also download the full knowledge base as a text file with !kb export — you own the data and can take it with you at any time.
Use !kb edit to edit the last entry, or upload a new document with the correct information — AskMunin prioritises newer knowledge. AskMunin goes through the knowledge base once a week and notifies you if it finds information that contradicts itself.
